Introducing the challenges II.

The teams still have 17 hours to go, and we're back with another four of the challenges. :)

Altogether there are eight topics brought to us by the partner companies: ams, Constantia Flexibles, Energie Steiermark, Hilti AG, LIEBHERR, LOGICDATA, PALFINGER and Philips. On the cover photo you can see a lovely picture of the company representatives participating in the event.

In the previous post we have introduced four of them, and now we are coming with the other half of the pack.

LIEBHERR

The first challenge in this post is presented by LIEBHERR, a family owned company founded by Dr.-Ing. E. h. Hans Liebherr in 1949. They have over 130 companies worldwide, active in almost 50 countries. The division for refrigeration and household appliances has five production sites, one of those is located in Lienz (Austria) with a special focus on commercial applications.

In Lienz 1.400 employees are manufacturing 420.000 appliances a year.

The team working on their challenge is working on innovative solutions for the chatting fridge, which places food in the right place.

LOGICDATA

Coming up next is the topic from LOGICDATA, a company developing mechatronic system solutions for adjustable home and office furniture. Their mission is to '(r)evolutionize adjustable furniture'. They constantly strive to create new and better technology. They work hand in hand with our customers and suppliers to develop new ideas and applications.

The challenge for their student team is to design the workplace furniture of the future.

PALFINGER

The next in the line of introductions is PALFINGER, the company which stands for the most innovative, reliable and cost-effective lifting solutions for use on commercial vehicles and in the maritime field. At the company established in 1932, the main strategic pillars of the corporate strategy are innovation and further internationalisation of products, processes and services, in addition to greater flexibility.

Their mission for the student innovators is to develop a safe, efficient and comfortable cargo securing method.

Philips

We are closing the introduction line-up with Philips, a leading health technology company focused on improving people's health and enabling better outcomes across the health continuum from healthy living and prevention, to diagnosis, treatment and home care. Philips leverages advanced technology and deep clinical and consumer insights to deliver integrated solutions. The company is a leader in diagnostic imaging, image-guided therapy, patient monitoring and health informatics, as well as in consumer health and home care.

The team working on the challenge prepared by them is designing the healthy kitchen appliance for students.

What exciting topics! A great match for the imaginative participants of this year's TU Austria Innovation Marathon!

It is not easy to come up with out-of-the-box solutions for any of these challenges. I'm sure our teams will have to get out of their comfort zone to come to satisfy their company representatives, but hey, that's where the learning starts! :)
